Glasgow Family Practice conducts Clinical Research Trials throughout the year and has been offering these clinical trials to the community since 1999.
There are many types of clinical trials, the most common are the ones conducted in medical practice settings. Specific medications are studied for safety and effectiveness under the supervision of the Food and Drug Administration and an Ethical Review Committee.
Clinical trials that are well-designed and executed are the best approach for eligible participants to:
- Play an active role in their own health care.
- Gain access to new research treatments before they are widely available.
- Receive expert medical care at leading health care facilities during the trial, because investigators are usually specialists in the disease area being studied.
- Help others by contributing to medical research and treatment advances.
